Frequently Asked Questions
Below is a comprehensive archive of frequently asked questions designed to assist our community members. Some details may evolve over time as vABY’s operations, systems, and policies continue to develop.
General Information
Being a member of vABY is free. vABY is a non profit organisation and does not charge for any services. Members are more than welcome to donate towards vABY if they choose.
No you do not need to be a real pilot, but having a good base knowledge certainly helps.
We currently support:
- Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS 2020/2024)
- X-Plane 11 / 12
- Prepar3D
The simulator must be compatible with the vAMSYS flight tracking client (Pegasus).
No. As vABY operates exclusively on the vAMSYS platform, all flights must be tracked using Pegasus, which requires FSUIPC and is available only for PC users.
vABY does not provide full support for older simulators or legacy addons. As technology continues to advance and modern platforms receive ongoing updates, maintaining compatibility with outdated systems becomes increasingly impractical.
We strongly encourage members to modernise their setups where possible to ensure full functionality and compatibility with vABY operations. Supporting older platforms can have adverse operational impacts, and therefore, our focus remains on current and actively supported simulation platforms.
We highly recommend members use the Fenix A320/A321 addon for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024. It’s by far the most popular choice among our members, representing the latest and most advanced Airbus simulation available for modern platforms.
The Fenix series delivers highly detailed and accurate systems modelling, making it an ideal choice for both realistic operations and in-depth learning — everything an avid simmer could ask for.
Pilot Operations
Return to the home page and select Register to create your account. Once submitted, your application will be reviewed and approved by staff. Please note that this process may take a few days, depending on the number of pending applications.
vABY does not provide guidance for absolute beginners, and if we do it’s out of good will. Applicants are expected to have a basic understanding of their simulator setup and to use the available documentation or appropriate support channels where applicable.
vABY is hosted on the vAMSYS platform and uses Pegasus to track flights. This is a PC only based system.
Users can fly on any online network they choose or even offline.
There are no formal restrictions on routes that can be booked and flown. We operate an airline group, thus having different networks. Users can fly between these networks freely or even jump seat between networks.
No. Members are able to book and fly available routes within our ever growing network. We simulate the airline schedule as realistically as possible. Members cannot create their own routes.
When the operator introduce new routes or terminate routes, these are reflected in our schedules.
The more you fly, the more hours you accumulate — allowing you to progress through the ranks. Rank promotions are based on a combination of flight hours and points earned.
We provide tailored documentation for our operations, with additional materials currently in progress.
Yes of course, just make sure you’re friends with your co-pilot on vAMSYS so when you dispatch in the drop down for shared cockpit you can select them.
Fleet & Routes
We operate the A320, A321, A320neo and A321neo aircraft.
As long as you are flying the airline livery of our operators. We of course prefer users to use our liveries. Much time and effort has been put into these making them as realistic as possible.
You can fly all the routes available on the booking section in vAMSYS. We have a huge network and users can freely fly around it.
No. Every operator and network receive the same amount of work and updates. We will never prioritise one over the other.
These are integrated into vAMSYS, so there is no need for external SB profiles. Our integrated profiles are as accurate as they can be..
You can start a new topic in schedules-and-routes or open a ticket in ticket-support in the channels our Discord server.
Training & Events
While vABY does not offer direct pilot training, we provide a range of self-paced courses through our My Learning platform (Moodle). The My Learning is still under construction and is not available at this time.
These courses cover topics from ATPL theory to aircraft systems and operations, offering members an opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding.
All training materials are developed and tailored by our Training Team, which includes current line pilots with real-world experience, as well as team members actively progressing through their ATPL/CPL studies.
We host monthly focus airports and focus destinations. We also try and host more events whether that be on our network or VATSIM.
Membership & Activity
There are currently no enforced activity requirements at vABY; however, this policy is subject to change at any time.
At present, there is no enforced activity requirement. Inactive members will retain their accounts and may resume flying at any time.
Should an activity policy be introduced in the future, all affected members will be notified in advance and subject to the updated terms.
No. This breaks the Terms of Service agreement with vAMSYS. You are only permitted to hold one account per user or you’ll face a platform ban. If you have any issues with your account, reach out to staff so they can try and assist you.
Active members may view current Vacancies, and only apply provided they meet the listed requirements. Please note that while vABY may display open positions, this does not necessarily indicate active recruitment.
Only applications that align with our current needs will be considered, and as such, not all applicants will receive a response.
Technical Support
Make sure you are running FSUIPC as Pegasus needs this in order to communicate with the simulator. If that still fails then reaching out for help on our Discord server would be your next step.
There can be a few reasons for a PIREP rejection. Please login to vAMSYS and see Documents – Scores for more information. Staff will review every rejection and will always take things on a case by case basis.
vABY accepts hour transfers within the vAMSYS ecosystem and external transfers. Members who are transferring within vAMSYS must do this before filling their first PIREP with vABY. Members who are requesting external transfers to vABY will be asked for proof before they are rewarded.
If you’re not using autosave, the best way to recover from a simulator crash or disconnect is to reload at the nearest airport along your route.
On your flight’s dispatch page, you’ll find a Claim option, this is intended for situations where a flight is lost due to such issues. Please note that proof and detailed information must be provided before any claim can be reviewed and approved.
Community & Engagement
We have a dedicated Discord server for current active members only. This is where you can engage with our staff team and current members.
Yes. It’s a standard feature within vAMSYS. Users can fly and climb up the leader board as their hours and points increase. We also have many awards which will award users automatically as they fly over time. vABY awards commitment.
Members can give us feedback via our Discord server. There is a dedicated feedback forum where they can post feedback or suggestions.
